Arroyo frisked at airport terminal by walk through metal detector

MANILA, Philippines - Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo had to remove her belt and shoes before she was allowed to board a flight for Hong Kong with her husband last night.

The former first family were asked to remove their shoes and walk barefoot past a metal detector at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminal 2.

The Pampanga lawmaker asked “Kailangan pa ba? (Is it really necessary)?” when she was asked to walk through metal detector again.

The woman frisker told her: “Opo ma’am, yung sinturon ninyo tumunog (Yes ma’am, your belt sounded the alarm).”

On cue, Arroyo removed her leather belt with the offending metal buckle, and again went past the metal detector.

After the second attempt, the metal detector’s alarm stopped buzzing and she was frisked before being allowed into the departure area.

After passing the security check, the Arroyos proceeded to the Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Lounge.

Asked when they are coming back, Arroyo snapped: “Ay naku, huwag mo akong tanungin diyan (Oh, please don’t ask me about that).”

Arroyo and her husband are flying to Hong Kong again, a week after they have gone to the Chinese territory on vacation with their son, Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado Arroyo.

President Aquino will deliver his State of the Nation Address before a joint session of Congress today.
